  • Total knee replacement

“Six months ago I had my left knee replaced due to severe arthritis, causing significant deformity to my left leg. My gait was affected and I developed a tibial stress fracture, and was placed in an air cast for couple of months with no improvement in tibial pain. Dr. Gardner informed me that a total knee was absolutely imperative for any type of relief to leg and the knee. It was the best decision ever! Of course there is always apprehension before any surgery and this was no different. He calls the patient the evening prior, asking is there are any questions and then he prays with you before going into surgery. My hospital stay was uneventful, went to St. Paul's for 5 days of pretty intense rehab, and upon discharge home, scheduled outpatient PT at the UPMC Wellness Center. I did so well that they released me after only going 4 weeks as opposed to the usual time period allotted. Never had to use a cane, went up and down stairs right away, and was extremely faithful in doing the required exercises. I feel this surgery changed the quality of my. daily life, allowing me to do so much more in the way of exercising and walking. Thank you, Dr. Gardner! Have always only heard great things about your care to your patients.

  • Total Hip Replacement

“Dr. Gardner and Staff are and were very professional and down to earth. They are very open to comments, questions and concerns. After searching other orthopedic surgeons from other nearby areas I decided on Dr. Gardner. He was the only one who utilizes material for hip replacement that I researched as well as his surgical techniques and procedures. Being a humanitarian who serves the less fortunate in Haiti & elsewhere was also a plus for the choice. If I might add, be sure your in excellent physical health, or get that way prior to surgery/replacement/repairs. It'll help with recovery, and improve any in house and or self rehabilitation. ”

“Dr. Gardner is very personable and knowledgabe. He spent time to answer any questions I had. I had been told he is very picky about his incisions and they were right-my scar looks wonderful. I am still in physical therapy but am so glad I had the replacement done. Already doing better than before the surgery! Will let him do any other surgeries I may have.”

  • total knee replacement

“On October 22nd I had my second total knee replacement with Dr. Gardner. As I expected, this one went even better than the first one. Once again I followed the doctors orders by attending PT and doing my home exercises and stretching. At 60 I consider myself an active man and having my knees replaced was a great decision for me. Because I am moving more freely I have lost another 20 lbs. I feel great! Dr. Gardner is truly the best at what he does! Great surgeon and wonderful human being”

  • Revision of right knee

“I had 2 knee replacements done and over 10 years I had a lot of trouble with them getting worse. I prayed that God would help me find someone to help me. He helped me find Dr. Mark Gardner. He did a revision on my knee and what a difference that made. Today I can walk with out pain and to say I can walk is wonderful. Before this was down I could only go a little ways and have to stop because of the pain It is wonderful the difference from before till now”

  • total knee

“Dr. Gardner did a visionary total knee replacement on me in February. I followed his instructions to a T and after 5 weeks of PT (3) times a week and doing the recommended exercises at home me knee is the best it's been in years. I have NO pain and a very good range of motion. And all within 4 months. I am so pleased with my out come. I have dropped 30 lbs and am more active because my knee doesn't hurt. I have already scheduled my other knee replacement for October and now that I know what to expect I believe I will do even better with the second. Dr. Gardner is such a good surgeon but equally important a good person. He took his time in explaining all aspects of the surgery and recovery and really put my wife and I at ease. ”

  • R shoulder replacement

“I would like to thank Horizon Pain Mgt. Farrell for directing me to Dr. Gardner. It took about 30 seconds after meeting him that I knew he was what I needed. His way of calming me was unreal. I must say that of all repair, remove, replace procedures to date this was the best. Decreasing pain after surgery is nothing like I had prior to this. All the staff is so good at what they do and make you feel as if you aren' t just another name in their books. Thanks for everything you have done for me. ”
